Snow White and the Huntsman review
Story: 4 castles out of 5
Its Snow White! If you've seen the Disney movie thats it for the most part. BUT,+50 for added badassery.
Not much but quite enough for my taste. All of the stuff you can find in the animated film is here. Apples,Castles,Mirrors on Walls and what not, Only 90% more bad ass. Plus a bit more focus on the Huntsman (
SFX: 3 non-mirror mirrors out of 5
If You've seen the movie you'll know what i mean by non mirror mirrors.
The Visual effects are quite nice. Good enough for me. Its still so similar to the visual effects of the second Harry Potter movie.
Acting/Casting: 3.5 Axes out of 5
Acting is tolerable.The Wicked Queen (Charlize Theron) put out the most effort in playing the Evil Queen.
Chris Hemsworth Is truly on a roll this Summer. With The Avengers,Cabin in the Woods and this movie. He sure is raking in a lot of cash.(well not quite as much as say RDJ). He was great in the action scenes and his scenes. Not a scene stealer but he played the role right. Kristen Stewart was Ok for the lead role.Not the best choice though.Very few poker face incidents though. And id rather watch this that Her other movie(You know what i mean).She sure is pretty though.Cast is quite small,I can only recognize a handful of actors.
Soundtrack:3 Daggers out of 5
Good enough for me.But no where near iconic. It suits the movie very well
although 1 track did sound REALLY familiar. Inception-ish
Overall: 3.4 Poisoned Apples Out of 5
This is another one of those re imagining of fairy tales. Dark and gritty. Similar to Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton, But distinct enough.Real nice movie, Good for killing time. Chill out movie.
But I'm damn sure its not for repeat viewings.
